Upon the proposal of the Ministry of National Education, in accordance with the additional article 30 of the Law No. 2809 dated 28.03.1983, the Faculty of Art and Design was established within Artvin Coruh University with the decree numbered 2012/3763 dated 20.09.2012 by the Council of Ministers and published in the official gazette dated 07.10.2012 and numbered 28434.

The proposal of Artvin Coruh University Rectorate dated 17.04.2013 to open the Department of Architecture, Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design, Department of Musicology, Department of Visual Communication Design together with the departments within our faculty was approved by the YÖK Executive Board in accordance with the Law No. 2547 amended by Law No. 2880 and 7/d-2, and the aforementioned departments and departments were opened.

The proposal of Artvin Coruh University Rectorate to transfer the Department of Landscape Architecture within the Faculty of Forestry to the Faculty of Art and Design was deemed appropriate by the Higher Education Executive Board dated 28.02.2018 in accordance with articles 7/d-2 and 7/h of Law No. 2547 as amended by Law No. 2880, and the Department of Landscape Architecture was transferred to the Faculty of Art and Design together with its departments and students.

In the General Kurtul meeting of the YÖK Executive Board dated 17.05.2018, it was deemed appropriate for the Department of Architecture within the Artvin Çoruh University Faculty of Art and Design to accept students in accordance with article 7/d-2 of the Law No. 2547, amended by Law No. 2880, and the aforementioned department was opened in practice with the letter dated 30.05.2018 and numbered 4920 of the YÖK Presidency.
